As the 2023 Presidential Elections draw near, the nation has experienced an increase in the number of candidates who want to demonstrate competence and capacity.
Smart geek has made a list candidates who wants to wrestle for the presidential seat in the 2023 Presidential elections.
Prof Kingsley Moghalu
Professor Kingsley Chiedu Moghalu was born on the 7th of May 1963. He had his secondary school education at Eziama High School, Aba, Government College Umuahia, and Federal Government College Enugu. He earned a degree in law from the University of Nigeria in 1986, and the Barrister at Law from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. He has several career accomplishment under his belt. He is a Political Economist, Professor , Central Banker, Author and a Lawyer.
The political economist contested in the 2019 Presidential elections under the Young Progressives Party (YPP) but lost to Buhari. Even after the lost he has remained politically relevant and so he is set to contest again to make Nigeria better in the upcoming 2023 Presidential Elections.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos state has also announced his candidacy in the upcoming 2023 Presidential Elections.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left no stone unturned with various campaign arrangement. He has since paid consultation visit to royal fathers – HRM The Awujale of Ijebuland, HRM The Alake of Egba Land and HRM The Olu of Ilaro, Ogun State royal fathers, His Royal Majesty, The Akarigbo of Remo Land – at their respective palaces, to seek their royal counsel and their prayers.
Tinubu via a post on his Instagram page noted that our traditional institutions are fundamental to our culture and remain as important as ever in our quest for greater unity, cohesion and social development.
Although in 2021, campaign posters of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) surfaced in some strategic areas in Lagos state. Tinubu however did not make any official announcement till January 2022.
Bukola Saraki
Olubukola Abubakar Saraki, Nigerian Politician and 13th President of the senate of Nigeria has also made his intention known to run for Presidency.
According to him we have focused on the old arguments of ethnicity and regional sentiments, instead of capacity, competence, and other critical issues. We should not allow past issues to drag us back and define us, He believes that he is the Nigerian for all Nigerians.
Dr Bukola Saraki had previously declared his presidential campaign for the PDP presidential ticket in the 2019 election, but lost the primaries to Atiku Abubakar. However he seemed more prepared this time, he also appears to be the first politician from the North Central region to indicate interest in the 2023 Presidential Elections.
Alhaji Yahaya Bello
Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the incumbent governor of Kogi state has also indicated interest in the 2023 Presidential Election race. He noted that young people and followers have noticed his style of leadership and they are clamoring for him to demonstrate the competence he has demonstrated in Kogi state at the national level.
When asked how he will reconcile the presidential election race and his governorship term which is supposed to end in 2024, Yahaya Bello noted that he has raised leaders in the state and that will not be a problem.
Atiku Abubakar
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has also joined in the 2023 Presidential Election race. Despite contesting five times 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019, the Politician and business man is ready to throw his hat in the ring again.
Dele Momodu
The publisher of Ovation Magazine and The Boss Newspaper, Dele Momodu has also offered to lead the country.
The presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP) in the 2011 presidential election declared to run for president again on Monday, January 10, 2022.
The veteran publisher rejoined the PDP in October 2021, and he is ready to vie for the party’s presidential ticket in the upcoming 2023 Presidential Elections.
Doyin Okupe
Dr. Adedoyin Okupe, a Nigerian physician and politician has also indicated interest in the 2023 Presidential elections. Okupe was the spokesman of the Presidential Campaign Organisation of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate for president in the 2019 Nigerian presidential election.
The 69-yr-old politician believes he has what it takes to be the next president of this great nation.
Yul Edochie
Nollywood Director and actor Yul Edochie has also declared his intention to vie for the office of the president in 2023. With the hashtag “give the youth a chance”, his pictures can be seen on several post on the microblogging site, Twitter. It is clear that preparation is on top gear from his end as the 2023 Presidential Elections draw near.
Yul Edochie is convinced that he will be the best President Nigeria has ever had.
Chukwuka Monye
The renowned Nigerian businessman, social trailblazer and humanitarian Mr. Chukwuka Monye have likewise proclaimed his expectation to challenge the workplace of the President of Nigeria in 2023.
Chukwuka Monye has done several campaigns in the north in the last few weeks. The young businessman is taking the bull by the horn visiting different regions ahead of the upcoming 2023 Presidential Elections. He believes that the time to take over the governance from the older generation is now.

Bala Mohammed
There are speculations that Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State is among the governors being considered for president in the PDP.
In July 2021, the governor said members of the party in his state have cleared him to contest in 2023.
The governor has also spoken about his endorsement by various groups. This actually means that the governor is ready to wrestle for the presidential seat in the 2023 Presidential Elections.
Khadija Okunu Lamidi
So far, she is the first woman to indicate interest in the 2023 Presidential Elections. She is Khadija Okunu Lamidi, daughter of former Federal Works Commissioner, Lateef Olufemi Okunnu.
According to her, she was motivated to contest for presidency because of her desire to rekindle hope and make Nigeria work for all Nigerians. Nigerians on twitter have applauded her courage and cannot wait to see her innovative campaign moves towards the upcoming 2023 Presidential Elections and also have a woman win the contest for the very first time in history.
dave Umahi
Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State is another person who has announced his intention to contest for Presidency in the upcoming presidential election.
On November 17, 2020 Governor Dave Umahi defected to the join the All Progressive Congress (APC) and he has since then joined in the contest to become Nigeria’s President in the upcoming 2023 Presidential Elections.
Anyim Pius Anyim
“In order to see the result we desire, we must plan ahead and take appropriate steps towards that desire. I have started taking steps and if you haven’t, I invite you to join me. Start by getting your PVC ready and join the march towards a Nigeria that will benefit us all” the Former President of the Nigerian Senate and Secretary to the Government of the Federation posted via his Instagram handle.
Anyim Pius Anyim is hoping to emerge as the Peoples Democratic party(PDP) candidate in the upcoming 2023 Presidential Elections regardless of how zoning is executed.
