I remember those days when the name Tecno was attributed to any china phone that made the kind of loud noise you would hear from a chicken that is being gracefully escorted to the slaughter house for Christmas. Don’t worry; this article is not about Tecno throwback Thursday or a Christmas special. I mean, December is still far away. However, I’ll be focusing on how the Tecno brand has come a long way from being the street acclaimed brand of Chinko to manufacturing a phone that is like one never seen before. I’m talking about the Tecno Camon X Pro.
Tecno launched the Camon X Pro exactly at the same with its junior brother – the Tecno Camon X. People believe this was done to create a diversification of products with amazing specifications and affordable rates. Although, the Camon X has some pretty intriguing specs to be considered, the Pro Version makes its specs look like child’s play.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The Camon X Pro has a smooth-shining plastic covering at the back with a golden stripe at the edges and sides. A lot of people are disappointed that the cover isn’t metal but I think the plastic has its perks. The phone is featherweight and it’s a plus for people who love their phones light in the pocket. It measures 158.6 x 75.8 x 5.2mm in dimension. It also has small bezels that almost appear to be non-existent. Of course, it comes with the quality IPhone-like design having the fingerprint sensor at the back. You can choose from the Midnight Black or you can have the exquisite Bordeaux Red Option
Let’s talk about the part of the phone that you will be interacting with, the beautiful screen. The Tecno Camon X has an amazing 6.0-inch full HD screen that is set with a resolution of 2160 by 1080p thereby giving it a pixel density of about 402 PPI. The front is also covered in 2.5D curved glass. It has the type of screen whose beauty you won’t want to defame by putting a screen protector. But let’s be honest, we’ve all had one crazy experience or the other of our screens having a crack. As the idle African, prevention will always be better than cure.
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
Camon X Pro runs on Android v8.1 Oreo. It also comes with the latest user interface of Tecno, Tecno HIOS V3.3. it is powered by Octa-core MediaTek MT6763T processor running at a maximum speed of 2.0GHz. This is combined with a Mali GPU for graphics rendering. It comes with a 4GB RAM and 64GB built-in storage space expandable to 128GB via the SD micro SD card slot.
The Tecno Camon X Pro comes with a 24mp rear camera (dual-LED) and a 16mp front camera (quad-LED). A key addition to the camera feature set is super pixels that crank up the pixel count of the 16MP sensor to give out a 60MP image.
The front camera of the Tecno Camon X Pro also comes handy for the Face ID feature that allows you to unlock your phone conveniently with your face. Cool? I know right! The camera captures an in depth map of your face and then uses it to compare with your face at any other time for future unlocking of the phone screen.
The Tecno Camon X Pro can last a full day on moderate to heavy usage. It has a non-removable Li-Po battery. Packed with enough juice capacity at 3750mAh, it can hit about 10-12 hours usage time after full charge. I’ve already been pampered by a phone of 6050mAh I have used in the past so I’m not particularly excited about this segment. Nevertheless, I think most normal people will be served well by the Camon X Pro’s battery performance. Yes, I’m not normal.
I believe the Tecno Camon X Pro is very much worth the money. It has the most important things one requires in a Smartphone; premium design, excellent performance, abundant storage and excellent cameras. To crown it all, it has a very affordable price. With Camon X Pro, you won’t just be buying a topnotch device but a prospective one too.
