Hyperloop One which was formerly know as Hyperloop technologies is a company formed to explore Elon Musk Hyperloop concept. Elon Musk is a South African-born engineer and inventor, he is the founder of SpaceX , CEO of Tesla Motors, chairman of SolarCity, co-chairman of OpenAI and co-founder of Zip2.
Elon Musk later left the project for commercial firms to make it a reality, Currently there are two firms trying to make this technology a reality – Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) and Hyperloop One.
Hyperloop One is responsible for the development of the futuristic super-fast transport system in UAE, meanwhile the pods are still in development phase so full details of the system are not available yet.
It has also noted that normally by a car it takes about two hours to travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, but with the Hyperloop pods the company has promised the time taken to travel that distance would be reduced to a mere 12 minutes.
Hyperloop vision is to create a super-fast transport system that would reach a top speed of 800 miles per hour (1,300 km/h).
Last year co-founder of Hyperloop One Shervin Pishevar hinted in an interview that the first hyperloop system might debut oversea instead, sooner or later the Hyperloop announced that it has received $50million from DP World Group of Dubai, which is the third largest port operator in the world.
The funding was to help build pods that can help transport goods and service around the world in a shorter time.
You can see what Hyperloop One has dreamed up below:
Prof David Bailey, from the Aston Business School, said to BBC
Building it through the desert means you can plan a route that is straight – it doesn’t do curves very well – and the government there will see it as a way to be at the forefront of a new technology
Rival Company HTT also signed a deal early this year to bring its technology to Slovakia.
