Clarion Chukwurah’s Biography
Chief Clara Nneka Folashade Oluwatoyin Chukwurah, popularly known as Clarion Chukwurah, is an actress and humanitarian activist who hails from Anambra.
She was born to Mr. John and Mrs. Christiana Chukwurah on the 24th of July, 1964, in Lagos, Nigeria, as the only female child among four children.
Her Education
She had her nursery and primary education at Moluka and Ladi Lak Nursery Schools and All Saints Primary School, both in Yaba, Lagos.
At age 11, following her father’s death in 1975, Clarion moved with her family to Aba in Abia State to live with their paternal uncle.
Clarion was reported in the Daily Times to have passed her National Common Entrance Examination with the highest aggregate.
She later attended Queen of the Rosary College (QRC), Onitsha, for her secondary education.
She proceeded to study Acting and Speech at the Department of Dramatic Arts at the then University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, where she acknowledged, her art was polished.

Her Acting Career
She started her on-stage acting career in 1979 in her junior school days as a keenly interested teenager who had played Lady Macbeth in William Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ.
She became famous after being featured as a lead actor in Lola Fani-Kayode’s soap opera, Mirror In the Sun.
With a successful acting career that has spanned over 35 years, Clarion Chukwurah has played over 250 roles. These movies would include but are not limited to Money Power, Midnight Love, Abuja Connection, Egg of Life, Glamour Girls 2, Caught in The Act, Forbidden Choice, Gold Diggers, Selfish Desires, Farewell to Babylon, Apaye, and some Yoruba movies like Yemoja, etc.
Without a doubt, Clarion is a talented and distinguished actress in the Nigerian movie industry and theatre renaissance.
She is one of Africa’s most prominent female movie stars who has not only been consistent but has also been having a pronounced run in the movie skies.

She was recognized as a UN Peace Ambassador for her humanitarian activities all across Africa.
At the 1984 FESPACO Film Festival in Ougadagodou, Burkina Faso, a continental movie festival, she was recognized as the first Nigerian to win in the Best Actress Category.
As a multi-award-winning actress, she has been honored with several international recognitions as an actress and a philanthropist.
In 1997, she won the Best Actress award for Glamour Girls at the Afro-Hollywood award.
In 2001, she won the Best-Supporting Actress (Yoruba) at the THEMA awards.
In 2001, she won the Best Actress at the Lebatino Film Festival in Mexico.
In 2003, she won the African Cinema Award.
In 2004, she won the Best Actress award at the Reel award.
In 2014, she won the Best Actress in a leading role at the African Movie Academy Awards.
In New York, 2016, she received the Danny Hover humanitarian award. She was also awarded the city of Houston’s humanitarian proclamation award from the mayor of Houston.
She was conferred with the traditional Igbo chieftaincy title of Ada Eji Eje Mba 1 of Onitsha by the Obi of Onitsha in Anambra State.
Her Marriage
Clarion Chukwurah who has been married a couple of times, in 2016, got married to Anthony Boyd, and together they live in Georgia, United States.
The veteran actress currently holds the position of chairperson of the Clarion Chukwurah Initiative West Africa and runs her creative arts production company called JADE production.

Clarion Chukwurah is currently one of the richest and most influential actresses in Nigeria and is also the mother of legendary music video director Clarence Peters.
