Finally Android has overtaken Windows as the World’s most loved OS.
This month Android mobile OS achieved a new milestone in the software community by surpassing Windows as users most used operating system. It should also be noted that Windows still hold the top position for PCs with an 84 percent market share. This detail is according to web analytics firm StatCounter. If you look at combined usage across desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile, Android usage climbed 37.93
Last Month Statcounter also told us that very soon Android would achieve this milestone- which it has finally done. Statcounter is a popular web analytic company that measures internet traffic across web platforms, StatCounter only measures internet-connected devices, which will exclude a small number of desktop PCs used for specific tasks.
If you look at combined usage across desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile, Android usage climbed 37.93 percent, edging out Windows’ 37.91 per cent. Apple’s iOS operating system for iPhones and iPads was third most popular with a mere 13.09 per cent.
This is a milestone in technology history and the end of an era,” said Aodhan Cullen, CEO of StatCounter.
A great number of Android users are on the Asian continent with a 52.2 per cent market share, compared with Windows’ 29.23 per cent in the area. StatCounter’s data is based on billions of page views per month of more than 3 million sites.
With the rise in mobile in the last few years, it shows that the world is moving from a PC era into a mobile era. Smartphone sales are outpacing PCs sales by a very big gap: Samsung sold 307 million units for that fourth quarter while Lenovo, who is known as the world’s largest PC maker by shipment, shifted a relatively meagre 15,871,000 units.
